About elbert chu
my journey began in new jersey. went prodigal, spending some years in bland but pleasant michigan for college. after some hard lessons which were not included in the tuition that went towards my diploma, i returned east to new york city. soon after, i jumped from an imploding dot-bomb named ibeauty.com and landed at a biotech hedgefund where i routinely traded tens of millions of dollars. the hedgefund also imploded. doctors do not generally make good investors. i won't go into why.
around that time i traveled to nepal to spend some time at a christian orphanage. their story captivated me, and my images helped me to remember and share. i traveled to northern india, visiting various ngo's and faith-based ministries. their stories captivated me and my camera helped me to remember and share. i traveled to the astrodome in texas to help with relief from hurricane katrina. their stories captivated me and my images helped me to remember and share. after that i knocked on many doors and this is the one that opened to me. i have been apprenticing and assisting with marc asnin for almost two years.
my goal is to explore the tension we all experience in life moving from despair to hope. my hope is that my clients will more importantly be friends for the journey.
i live in new york city with my wife and a wonderful community of family & friends.
